Combat Jiu Jitsu's Next Top Competitor - 10th Planet Decatur
From Cheerleading to Jiu-Jitsu Dominance
From the football fields and cheerleading squads of Kentucky Christian University to the mats of 10th Planet Decatur and National Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, Travis "The Mantis" Thomas's journey is one of resilience and adaptability. Growing up in California, Las Vegas, and Alabama, Travis has always been an athlete at heart. Encouraged by a friend, he ventured into mixed martial arts, leading to an impressive Jiu-Jitsu career where he has bested seasoned black belts and caught the eye of Eddie Bravo, the founder of 10th Planet.
Despite training in Jiu-Jitsu for only three years, Travis's natural talent and dedication have made him a standout. His high school wrestling career, achieved with no coach or teammates, saw him dominate with a record of approximately 10-1 during his senior year. Transitioning to mixed martial arts, Travis achieved an amateur record of 5-1, demonstrating his versatility and prowess. As a professional, he has continued his success, maintaining a nearly undefeated record in Jiu-Jitsu on well-known stages such as the PGF and CJJ Worlds.
Known as "The Mantis" for his ability to latch onto opponents and never let go, Travis continues to push the boundaries of his sport, proving that his rise is far from over.
Relentless, Resilient, Rising
Travis has quickly established himself as a formidable force in the world of Jiu-Jitsu. His recent fight appearances are a testament to his skill, determination, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Travis showcased his prowess at the PGF Season 5, where he earned acclaim by submitting Landon Tourville with a triangle, solidifying his status as a top contender. His performance at the CJJ Worlds caught the attention of Eddie Bravo, who praised him highly for his abilities.
Travis's rise continued with notable matches, including his dominant presence at Subversive and Main Character Jiu-Jitsu events. His impressive techniques and strategic acumen have made him a fan favorite and a respected competitor among peers.
